Press Release: nowHerenowHere: An Exhibition for the Homeless and Homed August 23rd, noon – 9pm
nowHere is an interactive social art exhibition that invites the public, both homeless and homed, to engage with site specific artworks, live music, performances, workshops and discussions that explore inequality and empowerment. nowHere is a space to dedicated to dissolving isolating social barriers and instead reclaim the beautiful and positive aspects of our humanity.
nowHere showcases an impressive line-up of local and international artists, scientists and scholars joined together by a common desire to contribute to justice and equality on a global scale.

Located in a slated for redevelopment office building on the corner of Seventh and Cherry, visible from the High 5, nowHere takes a ‘nowhere’ and enlivens it, transforming this building into a place of beauty, sustenance and community. This building can still contribute and be a space that matters, just as our guests are all people who matter. We can either be nowhere or we can be now here. Let us acknowledge each other, let us co-create this world together. Together we can make a difference.

We commonly associate poverty as a lack of financial resources, home or food. However, it can also be due to a lack of emotional or mental clarity, of strength, of confidence, of conviction. Homelessness is caused by many reasons, and each can receive great benefit through community, recognition and creative thinking.

Just as we, as humanity, are co-curating this world, whoever joins us will be co-curating this show. nowHere provides a safe, progressive experiential space, where everyone is invited to engage at whichever level they are comfortable with. We wish for people living outdoors to walk away knowing they are valued and the homed, able to acknowledge the entirety of their community and believe that they really can make a difference.

On August 23rd, 12 – 9 pm, please join us at 710 Cherry St for nowHere’s celebration of One-ness through interactive social art forms empowering both the homeless and homed. We wish to thank our wonderful sponsors – Real Change, Art Primo and #hashtaglunchbag, who are generously supporting us with funds, the good word and also lunchboxes, drink bottles etc.
To learn more about the cause, the artists and how you can be part of nowHere, please check out our Facebook page, contact LoveCityLove, Homeless in Seattle, or have a chat to co-organiser Cleo Barnett.  It is time to acknowledge everyone our beautiful city has to offer.
