South Park Signal Box Project JUNE 2017Hi friends, South Park Arts is proud to open votingfor their neighborhood signal boxes. Top 10 designs will be painted over the summer of 2017.I was honored to have 2 of mine selected; LOTERIA & GREEN.Voting ends Friday, June 9th | Winners will be notified Friday, June 30thYou can vote for my 2 designs HERELOTERIAThis design was inspired by myfavorite childhood game. Similar to Bingo, you use a deck of cards chosen at random to match the image to your player board. As cards are pulled, images are called out and covered with pinto beans. First one to cover the entire card wins! Favorites include El Burracho (The Drunk), El Muerte (Death), and La Sirena (The Mermaid). For the signal box I chose to highlight La Estrella (The Star) along with the history of Loteria, La Rosa (The Rose), El Pescado (The Fish) with a Salmon, and El Parauguas (The Umbrella) for Seattle rain. Patterned throughout are flowers in a traditional Mexican folk style.GREENThis design is to camouflage the physical signal box in the natural beauty of South Park. My favorite are the Catalpa trees that adorn the road. Growing leaves and vines continue around the box in a never-ending pattern.A.
