Rough Ground Performance 2017

ROUGH GROUNDWashington Hall,Seattle June 2017I performed onstage to 4 haiku’s written by Sha’Ifa Mami Watu for Rough Ground Friday June 9th 7-9PM at Washington HallGenerally, I stay out of the spotlight; I chose Art very specifically as it allows the work to speak for me and I can hang back. This project really spoke to my heart and my brain so I cast aside my timidness and really excited about tomorrow. I performed with a group of talented Seattle artists such as S.i. Crutcher Fides Anna Mabanta & Yirim Seck. After the show ROUGH GROUND we realized there was an amazing coincidence; the 4 canvases I painted to Mami Watu’s haikus spell out LOVE which perfectly embodied the performance. River, Stone, Sky, Fire, all painted out of sequence, influenced by her words, the music, and the collective energy of the room.If you didn’t get a chance to catch the Rough Ground performance June 9th here are some amazing shots of the show by Naomi Ishisakahttps://naomiishisaka.smugmug.com/Events/Cultural/Voices-Rising/Rough-Ground/i-277L46tSpecial thanks to Hera Won Devrim Özkan & Lauren Holloway for the use of easels.a.
