Sodo Track: Serpent & Sun Print

img_3018Sun & Serpent 2018Angelina Villalobos (179)Acrylic, Gouache, & Aerosol 12” x 16”For Sun & Serpent I presented elements from my Sodo Track mural, posing a great serpent coiling through layers of geometric shapes and sun-rayed frames. Serpents in mythology are often associated with guardianship; keepers of something special. In Aztec mythology, the cloud serpent Mixcoatl is associated with the cosmos & heavens beyond. In both the design and mural, I take the serpent from ground to sky, pulling patterns from nature and spanning his body throughout the frame to offer his protection.PURCHASE HERE
